The addition of zinc increases the metal’s hardness and resistance to deformation, making brass particularly well suited to an object intended to be carried and worn.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIts natural golden tone comes from the metal itself rather than a gold-coloured finish. Over time, untreated brass can gradually darken and develop a natural patina through exposure to air, moisture and handling.
